First post, and an interesting one at that!

So, I was planning on the first entry of this blog being something crafty, but instead it's something life-y. When I came home from school today to take Shadow, my Border Collie to the park, there was a human-less and tag-less Golden Retriever wandering around outside my apartment. Being the dog-lover I am, I called him over and took him inside, snapped a leash on him and took both him and Shadow to our apartment complex's office to see if the dog belonged to anyone in the complex.

While they thumbed through the leases to see who owned a Golden Retriever, I took the dog (who we have decided to call Midas for the time being) first to the vet and then to the humane society to check on lost dog reports and see if he had a microchip. Sadly, Midas has nothing but his collar.

(Slightly damp after his bath, and looking kind of pathetic)

So, after a bite to eat for Midas and a trip to the park, the three of us went back home and Midas got a bath. Surprisingly, he didn't mind and only tried to escape the tub once (I think he resigned himself to his fate: not being greasy and muddy!). Now clean, fluffy and oh-so-soft, he's had more food, tons of water and another helping of kibble. He seems to get along well with Shadow, although he growls whenever she comes to near when he's eating.

While we hope that his family misses him desperately and will get him back, we may end up adopting him if his "people" don't want him. He's well behaved, likes kids (we met some at the humane society), knows a few commands (including "down" and "leave it", thank goodness) and is completely ball-oriented, no matter how old he may be. After his long, adventurous day, it's no wonder he's spent the evening napping near wherever I happen to be.

(It's been a loooong day)
